Who we are

This policy explains how Dar E Umar (RA) (“we”, “us”) uses personal information collected through this website.

Contact form

When you use our contact form we receive your name, email address, phone number (if you give one), the type of enquiry, the subject and your message. We use this only to reply to you. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in answering enquiries.

Your message is sent by email to our inbox at info@dareumar.org. It is not stored in the website’s database. To prevent spam, the website briefly keeps a scrambled (one-way hashed) code made from your internet connection’s address for up to one hour; the address itself is not saved.

Course and team applications

Course applications and teacher or volunteer applications are made using Google Forms. The information you enter is collected by Google on our behalf and stored in our Google account. Google’s privacy policy applies to its service.

Donations

If you donate online, your payment is handled by Stripe on its own secure pages. We do not see or store your full card details. The provider shares with us the information needed to record your donation, such as your name, email address and the amount.

Cookies

Our website does not use advertising or analytics cookies. See our cookie policy for details.

Videos

If a page shows a video, nothing is loaded from the video provider until you press play. When you do, the video is loaded from YouTube (in its privacy-enhanced mode) or Vimeo, and their privacy policies apply.

WhatsApp and Instagram

If you message us on WhatsApp or Instagram, your messages and phone number or username are handled by those services (both part of Meta) under their own privacy policies, as well as by us. We use them only to reply to you.

Our website host

Our website is hosted by Namecheap. Like all web hosts, its servers keep technical logs (such as IP addresses and the pages requested) to keep the service secure and working.

Sharing your information

We do not sell your personal information. We only share it with the service providers named in this policy, who process it on our behalf, or where the law requires us to. Some of these providers may process information outside the UK, using safeguards recognised under UK data protection law.

Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of your personal information, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to ask for it to be transferred. To make a request, email info@dareumar.org.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
